Inauguration of Hyderabad CPLC-DRC today
HYDERABAD, Jan 6: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad will inaugurate the Hyderabad chapter of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and its district reporting cell (DRC) at the Governor’s House on Monday.
After Karachi, it will be the second CPLC-DRC in Sindh.
The Hyderabad DRC recently started providing facilities to citizens in reporting crimes of ordinary nature without going to a police station. It has already completed its initial work, like collecting of reported cases on a daily basis from all 29 police stations of the district, assisting citizens in getting their domestic issues resolved and helping them register the first investigation reports (FIRs), etc.
The DRC also facilitates follow-up investigation/citizens complaints through computerised data of crimes and monitoring of the return of recovered articles to their owners.
The cell, having fully equipped control room and other essentials, has been established in the women police station building, off Auto Bhan Road, Hyderabad. It has been submitting its monthly reports to the DIG of Hyderabad since October, 2012.
Hyderabad CPLC chief Haji Mohammad Yaqoob said that the DRC staff consisted of seven persons. “The cell is funded by CPLC volunteers who include businessmen, dignitaries, lawyers and other prominent figures,” he added.
“Few people know about existence of the DRC in Hyderabad,” he said, adding that a team of DRC officials would be deployed at every police station to help people in distress.
