Hazara Democratic Party leader to go on hunger strike

The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has threatened to implement drastic measures to prevent what it has called the ethnic cleansing of the Hazara community if the government fails to curb attacks against it, a press release sent out by the party said.

In its statement, the HDP has asked the government and the army for a targeted operation to remove elements involved in the killings of Hazaras in Quetta. The party has also called for the dissolution of the provincial assembly and the installation of a caretaker government set-up in Balochistan.

HDP chairman Abdul Khaliq Hazara would also observe a three-day-long hunger strike starting Sunday morning at 10 am at the Mission Chowk (I G Chowk) in Quetta to draw attention to the plight of the Hazara people.

Meanwhile, friends and families of those killed in Thursday's bombing in Quetta are continuing their sit-in which has now been going on for over 24 hours. Here are a few images from the ongoing sit-in.
