Protests in KP against Quetta, Swat killings
PESHAWAR, Jan 14: Activists of Shabab-i-Milli and Jamiat Talba Arabia (JTA) on Monday staged a protest demonstration at Sher Shah Suri Road to condemn bomb blasts in Quetta and Swat, alleging that secret agencies of the United States and India were involved in the bloodshed to destabilise Pakistan.
The protesters were led by former provincial minister Hafiz Hashmat Khan, JI Peshawar amir Behrullah advocate and Shabab-i-Milli, Peshawar president Shahzad Ahmad.
Speaking on the occasion, the JI leaders said the PPP-led coalition government had failed in restoring normalcy in the country particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta, saying the external elements wanted to destabilise Pakistan by creating chaos and turmoil in the country.
“Despite massacre of masses the government is least bothered about it,” they regretted. Meanwhile, JTA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter condemned the bomb blast on Tablighi Markaz in Mingora Swat and termed it an external conspiracy hatched against the Muslims.
Provincial organiser of JTA Siraj-ul-Haq and Anwar Khan, provincial nazim of Bazm-i-Quran said CIA and Blackwater were involved in bomb blasts at religious places, including mosques and Tablighi Markaz. They said it was duty of every Muslim to protect their holy places and foil such conspiracies through joint efforts. They also urged Muslim countries to get united to defeat the elements trying to destabilise the country.
MINGORA: The legal fraternity in Swat boycotted court proceedings on Monday in protest against the killings of innocent people in bomb blasts in Swat and Quetta.
The protest was held on the call of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council to express solidarity with the relatives of the victims of Tablighi Markaz in Takhtaband, Swat.
The lawyers at PHC circuit bench Fiza Ghat, Kabal, Matta, didn’t appear in cases before the concerned courts. The lawyers expressed concern over the killing of innocent people in the Swat and Quetta blasts. They demanded of the government to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
PARACHINAR: The sit-in staged by the political and religious parties against the target killing of Hazara people in Quetta continued on Monday.
They were of the view that their sit-in will continue till the government took stern action against the target killings of Shia leaders in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They also demanded release of what they called innocent people arrested from Pewar and Mirbakhel.Meanwhile, tribal elders and members of a tribal jirga appreciated the government action in Balochistan and called for necessary measures to control law and order situation in Fata as well.
The tribal malaks and members of peace committee held a jirga at Parachinar on Monday and appreciated the imposition of governor rule in Balochistan in the aftermath of growing incidents of target killings of Hazara community members. They said the Balochistan government had failed in protecting lives of innocent citizens.
