Militancy has declined, says FC

QUETTA, March 22: Inspector General of Frontier Corps Maj Gen Obaidullah Khan Khattak has said that militancy has been reduced in the province as a result of concrete steps taken by the government and security forces in Balochistan.

“Indicators show reduction in the militancy in Balochistan,” he said while briefing newsmen at the FC headquarters.

He said parliament had played a very positive role, making important laws to curb crime, but an amendment in the evidence law was necessary because outlaws and elements opposed to peace were freed because of weaknesses and loopholes in the evidence law.

The FC had organised the briefing to inform media about programmes launched by it in Quetta in connection with the 23 March celebrations.—Staff Correspondent
