Police allowed to exhume bodies of rape victims
ISLAMABAD, March 23: The capital administration on Saturday allowed the police to exhume the bodies of two girls who were separately raped and killed in November 2012 and February this year.
Sources in the capital administration said in response to a request made by the Bhara Kahu police, the additional deputy commissioner Islamabad had allowed the exhumation of the bodies.
The sources said the bodies would be exhumed after formation of a medical board to get samples from the remains. Both the victims were buried in a graveyard at Bhara Kahu.
A senior police officer said there was a need to exhume the bodies as the laboratory conducting the DNA test had sought more samples saying the ones already provided by the police did not meet the requirement.
The officer said the investigators did not want any loophole in the case which may help the accused during the trial.
It may be noted that a man along with his girlfriend has been arrested on the charge of raping and murdering the two girls.
It is alleged that the girl, a tutor, trapped her students and supplied them to her boyfriend.
The victims included an 11-year-old girl who was given some tranquiliser by her tutor when she came to her house in Bhara Kahu on February 13.
Later, the man took her to his residence at I-9/1 and raped her.
Afterwards, he allegedly burnt the girl alive and dumped the body in a nullah.
Similarly, the other victim, who was a daughter of a senior officer, was also raped and strangled by the accused on November 4, 2012.
Although the doctors, who examined the body, found marks of hanging around the neck and mentioned it in the death certificate, her family buried the body without any further examination.
The police officer said autopsy was not conducted on the body of the victim as her family considered it a natural death.
But, when the accused was arrested in connection with the murder case of the 11-year-old girl on February 22, he told the investigators that he had also murdered the daughter of the police officer.
