JI candidate sent to jail in Charsadda

CHARSADDA, April 3: Jamaat-i-Islami candidate for PK-22 Hafiz Shafiullah was arrested after a local court rejected his pre-arrest bail here on Wednesday.

Mr Shafiullah was charged with instigating people to a demonstration and attack on police station in order to protest against the killing of two brothers in Shabqadar.

He was booked under sections 341, 353 and 149 PPC.

The JI activist had applied for pre-arrest bail the other day, but the court rejected his application on Wednesday and sent him to jail.

Meanwhile, a local leader of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf Inamullah Khan resigned from basic membership of the party to protest against its board’s deci-sions concerning election tickets.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Inamullah said that he had joined the PTI in 2008, but noted that merit was violated in the recent allocation of tickets to election candidates.
