Majid storms into Asian U-21 Snooker semis

KARACHI, April 6: The highly talented Mohammad Majid Ali whipped Chinese Lu Ning by 5-2 frames to become the first Pakistani ever to sneak into the semi-finals of the 14th Asian under-21 snooker championship in the Indian city of Indore on Saturday.

Junior international Majid, runner-up of last year’s national junior championship to Hunain Aamir, came back from 1-2 down to post an exciting 76-26, 26-81, 19-76, 77-28, 77-48, 66-29, 94-0 victory over his opponent who mustered a break of 61 in the second frame.

Majid was due to face another Chinese Zhu Yinghui in the best of nine frames semi-final Saturday evening.

Result:Quarter-final: Mohammad Majid Ali (Pakistan) bt Lu Ning (China) 5-2 (76-26, 26-81, 19-76, 77-28, 77-48, 66-29, 94-0).
