Rehman Malik’s take on 62, 63
LAHORE, April 6: Former interior minister Rehman Malik has admitted the ‘mistake’ of the last parliament for not doing away with articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
“These articles were introduced by a dictator in 1985 and the last parliament should have removed them from the Constitution,” he told a press conference here on Saturday.
He said now these were being used against the PPP candidates. “Neither Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif nor Imran Khan meet 62, 63,” he said, asking as to why no action was taken against the Sharifs for telling a lie on their exile agreement with a dictator.
He said the forthcoming election would be contested between pro-and anti-Taliban forces. He said the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi’s name was associated with the Sharifs.
