Articles 62, 63 ‘an unbridled horse’: Aitzaz
LAHORE, April 10: PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday called Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution “an unbridled horse”.
Talking to media persons at the Lahore High Court, he said a dictator (Gen Ziaul Haq) was creator of these articles, but he never applied these to himself.
Barrister Ahsan had come to the court to plead an appeal filed by Imtiaz Safdar Warraich of the PPP against rejection of his nomination papers from NA-98, Gujranwala.
He said the definition of Pakistan’s ideology was not mentioned in the Constitution. “Had it been written in the Constitution, every sect would come up with its own Islam,” he added.
Replying to a question about former president Pervez Musharraf, Barrister Ahsan said it was a story of the past. He said Gen Musharraf was a leader of usurpers and unconstitutional rulers.
About court proceedings against Musharraf, Barrister Ahsan said no logical end to this case was in sight. The best time to take action had lapsed. Neither the government nor the courts did anything when Musharraf was leaving the country, he added.
