GILGIT, April 16: The election commission of Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday postponed the by-elections on GB-9, Skardu-III seat, for an indefinite period. The elections were scheduled to be held on May 9, officials said.

The officials said the decision to postpone the by-election had been conveyed to all the concerned quarters. They said reason for the postponement was closure of the road to Galtari subdivision due to snowfall.

It is pertinent to mention here that Wazir Shakil Ahmed, former minister for law and water and power, vacated the seat after he was made judge of the Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan.—Correspondent
