RAWALPINDI: Drug-peddler gets 2-year RI

RAWALPINDI, Feb 1: The additional district and sessions judge, Mian Mohammad Shafi, on Saturday awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a drug-peddler.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs1,500 on the convict, Faisalur Rehman. The convict will have to undergo another two- month imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.

The Kalar Saedan police booked the accused under Section 9B of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for possessing and selling charas.

The same court awarded two-year RI to another drug-peddler, Hayat, who was arrested by the Cantt police for peddling 250 grams charas.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs1,000 on the convict, while in case of non-payment, he will have to undergo another 15- day RI.

The civil judge and judicial magistrate, Mohammad Iqbal Guraya, awarded 22-month RI each to two persons for committing burglary.

The convicts, Aslam Khan and Ismail Khan, were arrested by the Civil Lines police after recovering some stolen valuables from their possession.

The same court also awarded nine months of RI to another person, Mansoor, who had been booked by the Peer Wadhai police for possessing unlicensed weapon.

The same court also awarded four-month jail-term to a person, Bahadur Khan, as the police had recovered some stolen valuables from his possession.
