Blast targets PPP rally in Lower Dir, six killed

PESHAWAR: A blast targeting a rally of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Lower Dir's Baba Gam village killed six persons and injured five others on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

The blast caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the vehicle of Zahir Khan the brother of Muhammad Zamin Khan, who is a PPP candidate from PK-96 constituency of Lower Dir - III.

Zahir Khan succumbed to his wounds suffered in the attack.

Emergency and rescue teams reached the site of attack and began efforts to shift the victims to medical facilities for treatment.

Security forces cordoned off the area as investigations began over the incident.
