Tendulkar’s commitment inspirational for players: Miandad

KARACHI, May 7: Former captain Javed Miandad, while emphasising the importance of hardwork and commitment to the Pakistan cricketers at the national camp in Abbottabad, said Indian great Sachin Tendulkar is a shining example and every player needed to learn from him to excel at the top level.

“It has been a good experience working with these players but I have told them that no matter how much coaching or advice you are given, nothing can replace the hard work and commitment that you put into your game everyday.

“I gave them Tendulkar’s example who is still playing Test cricket only because of his tremendous commitment and hard work,” Miandad said.“He is an ideal role model for the present generation because of his achievements and if they want to be successful as players, they must follow in his footsteps.”

Miandad said everything depends on individual in cricket. “You learn something new about batting everyday and it is absolutely necessary to keep on practising and working hard. No matter how talented you are, everyday and every match is a new challenge.

“I used to practise every day even when we had no team commitments. I have advised whatever I could to these [Pakistan] players but the rest is up to them to learn from it and utilise it,” the former captain said.—Agencies
