Blasphemy Accused arrested
DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 24: An official of the Dera Ghazi Khan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education was arrested on Monday on blasphemy charges.
Nadeem Asghar Shah, 30, a junior clerk in the permission branch of the board, had allegedly used ‘offensive language’ against the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) during a discussion on Feb 21.
The clerk was found guilty in an inquiry conducted by the assistant controller of examinations, Aslam Ansari.
A case was registered against the accused under Section 295-C on the report of the assistant controller of examinations. The BISE chairman has terminated Nadeem from the service.
“The accused has been shifted to a safe place for security reasons and the FIR sealed,” B Division SHO Akram Gurchani said.
Earlier, the board employees beat up Nadeem when he came to join his duty on Monday.
NO CASE: Police have yet to register a case against a relative of an MPA and provincial general secretary of the PML youth’s wing.
Deputy superintendent Mohammad Ajmal of an examination centre at the Government College had lodged a complaint with the Civil Lines police against Malik Mahboob Saqib.
He said Malik Saqib, appearing in the LLB examinations, took away an answer sheet out of the centre and did not return.
