Pakistan, China agree to sign extradition treaty

BEIJING, March 2: Pakistan and China have agreed to enter into an extradition treaty aimed at exchanging prisoners and treating them according to their own laws and conditions. A formal agreement will be signed soon.

Official sources on Sunday said that the treaty would help the two countries to work in close cooperation in the fight against narcotics trafficking and illegal immigration.

It would also enable them to exchange views and information on criminal offences.

The two sides had complete understanding on the issue, the sources said, adding that the treaty would lessen the hardships and grievances of the affected people.

Under the treaty, the convicts would be entitled to complete the period of conviction in their own countries, according to their culture and environment conditions.—APP
