THATTA: Arrest warrants for PPP activists
THATTA, March 4: The civil judge and first civil magistrate, Mirpur Bathoro, has issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against former PPP MNA Arbab Wazir Ahmed Memon, the vice president, PPP, Sujawal Taluka, Anwar Baghal, and three activists of the PPP for not appearing in the court of the civil judge on Tuesday.
These PPP activists were nominated in a case for their involvement in unlawful assembly, rioting and threats to their political opponents on Sept 28 during the general election campaign in which Mr Arbab was a candidate for the National Assembly.
An FIR was lodged on behalf of the state by the SHO, Mirpur Bathoro, against 150 PPP activists.
Haji Shams, a candidate of the PPP for a provincial assembly seat, Aijaz Khwaja, member PPP Sindh Council, Zahid Chandio and others had already been granted pre-arrest bail by the sessions judge, Thatta.
SHC: The chief justice, Sindh High Court, Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad, has said that to further improve the professional capabilities and working mechanism as well as to facilitate expeditious disposal of cases, five more courts were being established in Thatta District.
He said an amount of Rs97.05 million has been earmarked to establish additional courts in three districts of the province including Thatta, Badin and Shikarpur.
He was responding to the points raised in the welcome address presented by Syed Mohammad Shah, the president, Thatta District Bar Association, at a reception hosted in honour of the chief justice on Monday.
The chief justice said all out efforts were being made to extend facilities to the judiciary in the province and for this purpose a sum of Rs97.52 million will be spent to provide residential accommodations to the judges and ministerial staff of Thatta, Hyderabad, Mithi and Nawabshah.
