Appeal to Chief Justice

THIS is apropos of the statement by Prof Badar Soomro, secretary of the Sindh University Teachers Association, given in the background of the manhandling of Naseem Abass Abbasi, a young, bright and dutiful teacher of Sindh University, by an outside hoodlum during examinations (Dec 19 and 20).

The university is witnessing a phase of anarchy prevailing on the campus for the last eight years. A criminal who misbehaved with Mr Abbasi roams the campus freely.

All tearful eyes are looking to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, himself an alumnus of Sindh University, for taking a suo motu notice of the state of affairs prevailing in the university, in general, and the plight of Mr Abbasi, in particular.

DR MEHTAB ALI SHAH
University of Sindh
