` Zardari asked Musharraf to stay away`
SUKKUR, Aug 7 A senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-i- Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has alleged that presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar has conveyed a message from President Asif Zardari to former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to stay out of the country.
Talking to journalists in Makka Goth near here, Mr Ahmad said that it was an attempt to save the former president from being punished under Article 6 of the Constitution. He said the nation's foremost duty was to strengthen democratic institutions in the country and to bring all dictators to book.Terming apex court verdict on November 3 actions a positive development, he said the Supreme Court should also take up the issues of October 12, 1999 takeover, operation against Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa and assassination of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
Hs said that the present government did noting to punish the former general during the one and half years it had been in power and he expected no action from them in this regard in future as well.
The JUI-F leader said his party would part ways with the government in September, because it had failed to fulfil its commitment made to his party.
He said the central working committee of the JUI had conveyed the decision to President Zardari, because the government had failed to implement the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and to repeal anti-Islamic laws.
