Two shot dead by dacoits in Kasur

KASUR, May 15 Dacoits shot dead two people and injured as many others over resistance here on Saturday near Bhattikay in the limits of Chunian police station.

Reports said Muhammad Bilal, Rasheed, Muhammad Sadiq, and others were on their way from Hinjarkala village to Kasur by a carry van (LZR-1147). Near Bhattikay, 10 dacoits signalled them to stop but they accelerated the vehicle.

The accused opened fire, killing Sadiq and Rasheed on the spot while two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Chunian civil hospital.

Earlier robbers had looted various motorists on the same spot.

In another incident, four robbers looted a Habibabad police official Zulifqar Ali in Pattoki police precincts when he along with his family was on his way by a motorcycle.

The robbers took away gold, cash and cell phone worth about Rs200,000.

Robbers deprived Muhammad Saeed of Zaheerabad Colony of his bike (LZK-1906) in Pattoki police precincts and Farooq Ahmed of Peerowala Road of his motorcycle (LEO-3874) in Saddar Kasur area.

Meanwhile, a DPO office source told Dawn on phone that one of the 15 robbers, who shot dead two people on Hujra Shah Mokeem Road near Dhokokay, had been arrested.

SUSPENDED Deputy-director (food) Muhammad Husain Khokhar during a surprise visit on Saturday suspended an inspector for malpractices at the Kasur procurement centre.

Khokhar suspended food inspector Muhammad Ikram Gujar for weighing less wheat at the centre.
