Thatta council passes resolution against minister
THATTA, July 18 The district council unanimously passed a resolution on Saturday, demanding that President Asif Ali Zardari should take action against Sindh's provincial minister for coordination for what they alleged 'working against the legacy of Benazir Bhutto and sentiments of party workers'.
A member Abdul Lashari raised the issue of NCHD feeder teachers and expressed resentment over the minister's opposition to Rs4,500 monthly payment to NCHD feeder teachers.
He informed the council that earlier the house had approved Rs4,500 monthly payment in addition to salaries to the feeder teachers to encourage and promote primary education in remote areas of the district.
The minister recently wrote a letter to Sindh chief minister in which he opposed the incentive for teachers and suggested it be withdrawn.
Mr Lashari said that it was against the party's agenda of roti kapra aur makan.
The council demanded payment of salaries out of block allocations to 400 employees recruited in works and services department and regularisation of SDSSP teachers under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto project.
Abdullah Shah urged the council to take notice of pumping machines installed on both sides of Ganja Behar and Joya wah and illegal cuts.
