Suicide attack bid near Charsadda foiled

CHARSADDA, April 3 Police on Friday foiled an attempted suicide attack when they shot dead a 16-year-old boy who was trying to enter a public meeting of the Sherpao faction of the Pakistan People's Party in a village in Tangi tehsil. The meeting was being addressed by the party's provincial president Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao.

“Police spotted him as soon as he parked his bicycle and moved towards the meeting. He tried to run away when the policemen asked him to stop,” an official said.

He was shot when he tried to avoid getting captured. The boy died because of excessive bleeding, the official said.

The boy was carrying a bomb which was immediately defused.

Capital City Police Officer Sifwat Ghayur has promoted policemen who had foiled the suicide attack plot.
