Rawalpindi carnage victims laid to rest

LAHORE, Dec 5 Lt-Col Fakharul Hasan and his two sons, including Flying Officer Minhajul Hasan, who lost their lives in Friday's suicide attack in a Rawalpindi mosque, were laid to rest at Cavalry Ground's Army Graveyard with full military honours here on Saturday.

Lt-Col Hasan belonged to the army's medical corps. His second son, Saadul Hasan, 12, also lost his life when they were offering Juma prayers in the mosque.

Maj Shoaib (retired), another victim of the suicide attack, was also laid to rest in Garden Town's graveyard.

Air Officer Commanding Air Vice-Marshal Suhail Iman, senior serving and retired military officers, friends, relatives and family members attended the funeral of Lt-Col Hasan and his sons.

Contingents of the Pakistan army and Air Force presented guards of honour. Wreaths were laid at their graves on behalf of the president of Pakistan, the chief of the army staff, the chief of the air staff and the Lahore corps commander.

Later, senior officers presented caps and medals of Lt-Col Hasan and Flying Officer Minhaj to Mrs Fakharul Hasan.
