Sukkur receives funds
SUKKUR, March 24: The federal government has approved Rs370 million for development schemes to be carried out in Sukkur.
This was said by District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah while briefing newsmen about development schemes at the press club here on Monday.
He said the district government had received Rs100 million in the first phase and the federal government would release the remaining amount in the next two years.
Responding to complaints of residents about dirty water accumulated in the area, the Nazim said the work to lay a 1,300-foot sewerage line was in progress and it would be completed within a month.
He said the government had also approved Rs120 million for beautification of the Lab-i-Mehran.
The Nazim informed the newsmen the summery to open a university in Ghotki and a medical college in Sukkur was near completion. The Sindh government was in search of a proper building or plot for these institutions. The summary to start postgraduate classes in Sukkur colleges was also in the final stages and hopefully the classes would start from the next academic session, he added.
