Home for the abandoned ones

Bilquis Edhi, 67, a professional nurse and co-head of Pakistans largest charity has raised thousands of children who were left in the cradles outside her centres across the country thus is generally called Mother of Pakistan. Bilquis Edhi along with her eldest daughter Kubra also runs Edhi Village, 56 miles beyond Karachis city limits, which houses a hundred boys and some 1,000 psychiatric patients aged from 8 to 80 years who were abandoned by their families. In the second portion of the Edhi Village - fairly clean and neat in contrast to the psychological patients area - around 100 boys reside.-AFP Photos[imagebrowser id=10962]
