CHITRAL: Snow leopards faced with harsh climate
CHITRAL, March 31: Snow leopards forced by the excessive snow nowadays in the high altitudes can be seen very close to the city.
The specie found only in the Chitral mountains is feared to be at the point of extinction. Normally the specie has its abode in higher altitudes of Chitral bordering Afghanistan, and it is only the climatic constraint that make the leopards to come down to lower areas of Chitral Gole National Park. They prey on markhoors, but sometimes they also kill human beings.
The adjacent villages of national park— Balach, Singoor, Shali and Sen Lusht— are threatened of an attack from the leopards.
