PESHAWAR: End to bombing on civilians demanded

PESHAWAR, Dec 3: A meeting with the participation of several chieftains of Kharoti tribe of Pakhtoon clan held in Paktia province in which the participants demanded end to the bombings on innocent civilians forthwith, press reports said.

The participants said that when the United States has been claiming that its campaign is aimed at arresting Osama bin Laden then there is no justification of savage attacks on civilians.

Pakhtoon chieftains Haji Mohammad Ayub Kan and Haji Sahib Jan Kharoti sounded a note of warning to the United States to desist from perishing Pakhtoon population through heavy bombings on their areas.

They said that the Pakhtoons had become tired of Taliban’s rule as they had gone out of control by imposing unwarranted bans on their century-old traditions and as a result when the Americans joined hands with Northern Alliance for their elimination, Pakhtoons also started extending support to them.

However, they said that the savage bombings on Pakhtoon dominated areas is a matter of concern and warned that this may result in excite agitation among Pakhtoons and added that in this case it would become very hard for the US to continue its campaign against terrorism.—NNI
