Badar freed, leaves for Larkana

LAHORE, April 3: Pakistan People’s Party’s Jehangir Badar was released from Camp Jail here on Thursday, after his counsel furnished the court with two bail bonds of Rs1 million each.

Mr Badar was released from prison at 12.30pm and headed for his Iqbal Town residence almost immediately.

He left for Larkana the same evening to attend the 24th anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s death at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.

A statement issued on Mr Badar’s behalf refuted the impression that a deal had been done with the government to secure his release. “Badar’s release was proof that he had been unlawfully detained,” the statement said

The statement said that the PPP leader had neither ordered any illegal recruitment nor had he unlawfully issued petrol pump licences to anyone when he was federal minister for petroleum.
