HYDERABAD: Union workers opposed to sale of power plants
HYDERABAD, April 3 Activists of Pakistan Wapda Employees Pegham Union, Sindh chapter staged a protest demonstration outside the Hesco office against alleged victimisation of Pegham union workers in Larkana and the proposed privatisation of Jamshoro thermal powerhouse.
Union's provincial president, Khalid Mehmood Khanzada said that the Pegham union workers in Larkana were being victimised by Hesco officials and being transferred from one place to another and their salaries stopped.
He said that letters were written to police for taking action against Pegham workers at the instance of pocket union. This is a clear violation of human rights, he said and demanded of the federal minister for water and power and M.D Pepco to take action against officials misusing their powers.
He said the privatisation of Jamshoro thermal powerhouse will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, General Secretary, Hydro Electric Central Labour Union (CBA), Sindh chapter, Iqbal Ahmed Kaimkhani, provincial vice chairman, Malik Sultan Ahmed and other CBA leaders had condemned the protest demonstration calling it unelected blackmailers.
