HYDERABAD: Nawab wants foreign aid spent through MNAs

HYDERABAD, April 14 Pakistan People's Party MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has said that due to corruption and commission culture, benefits of development schemes worth billions of rupees have not trickled down to masses for which corrupt bureaucrats are responsible.

Talking to a delegation of the Manjhand Citizens Alliance, led by its chairman Saleh Memon, at his residence, he said that even foreign aid for health and education sectors was misappropriated.

The Nawab said that during a visit to Washington, DC, where he had attended a security sector seminar, he had suggested to US officials to send aid money directly to the people of Pakistan through their elected MNAs. He added that the best way to utilise foreign aid in a transparent manner was to spend the money on development schemes identified by MNAs.

Mr Talpur said that he had taken notice of an acute shortage of medicines and other irregularities in rural health facilities of Jamshoro district and asked the Sindh health secretary to take action against inefficient officers.

Investigations would be held into sale of government hospital's medicines to private medical stores, the MNA said. He said that instructions had been issued to reopen non-functional primary schools in Manjhand taluka.

JOBS The government is keen on creating jobs for which it was providing vocation training to youth, said Sindh Minister for Labour, Ameer Nawab.

He told this to journalists during a visit to Youth Vocational Centre, Hala, district Matiari on Monday. He had visited various centres in different parts of the country to apprise himself of the problems youth face in pursuing their career.

The minister directed the management of the centre to further improve their performance by providing facilities to trainees.Secretary Labour Ilmuddin Billo, Director Health Karim Bux Siddiqui, Mukhtiarkar Hala Abdul Rasheed Kaka and other officers of the district government were also present on the occasion.
