BHC commutes death sentence to life term
QUETTA, April 7: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has converted the capital punishment into life imprisonment of an accused in a murder case.
The bench comprising Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, after hearing arguments in an appeal plea on Monday, converted capital punishment into life imprisonment.
The appellant, Kabir Ahmed, had filed an appeal with the court against the verdict of the sessions court, Quetta, which had awarded him death penalty for killing Mazhar Munir and injuring his brother, Naveed, on January 1, 1999.
The court in another case rejected the appeal of Mohammad Bakhsh praying to set aside his life imprisonment awarded by the sessions court, Kharan, in a murder case and upheld the verdict of the lower court.
The sessions court had convicted the accused for killing Abdul Shakoor, whereas two other accused — Abdul Nabi and Mohammad Hasan — were declared proclaimed offenders in the case.
