KARACHI Chairman of the National Assemblys Standing Committee on Sports, Iqbal Muhammad Ali has said that all the demands of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) are met and it was the time for Pakistan hockey to deliver in upcoming Commonwealth and Asian Games.
Sports Ministry had honoured the demands of the PHF management and now keeping an eye on their performance, he told a private TV channel.
“The Hockey Federation requested for a foreign coach, and later asked to hold training camp in the Netherlands. Their demands were met and now we want results. If they fail to deliver then will be taken to task”, he warned.
He favoured of giving some more time to the management of the PHF, saying that the former Olympians should also shun the practice of criticism for the sake of criticism only.
“The standing committee is to convene a meeting of PHF officials and former Olympians soon to iron-out their differences, after all we all want a better future for Pakistan hockey”, said the MNA from Karachi Iqbal Muhammad Ali.
The current PHF management led by Qasim Zia has been under a lot of criticism since the national team finished at the bottom in the 12-nation World Cup held in New Delhi earlier this year. -APP
