Sialkot shock fancied Faisalabad

KARACHI Two late goals by Mohammad Tauseeq went in vain as Faisalabad were shocked 3-2 by Sialkot in the last match of the day at Junior Super Hockey League at Hockey Club of Pakistan on Thursday.

Dawood Khalid put Sialkot into a shock lead when he slammed home in the 12th minute. Faisalabad, who were being expected to win against Sialkot, got the second shock when Mohammad Omair hammered home in the 18th minute.

Sialkot knocked the life out of Faisalabad when they found the cage for their third in the 27th minute through Mohmmad Adnan.

It was only in the final half that Faisalabad bounced back with a strike by Tauseeq in the 53rd minute. Tauseeq once again found the target for his second in the 72nd minute but it was too little too late as Sailkot walked away victors.

Two goals each by Safeer Hussain and Khurram Shehzad propelled Multan to a deserved 5-1 victory over 10-man Abbottabad.

Safeeer, adjudged the player of the match, opened the scoring when he came into action with a 12th-minute strike only to see his effort being cancelled out by Abbottabad's Abdul Qayyum just five minutes later.

Khurram had his name on to the scoresheet in the 50th minute before Safeer completed his double in the 60th minute.

Hapless Abbottabad compounded their miseries when they were reduced to 10 players as Qayyum was sent off after a red card in the 61st minute.

Khurram also got his second to make it 4-1 against the depleted opponents in the 65th minute. Hafeez completed the tally just three minutes before fulltime whistle.

Karachi didn't face much resistance as they scored a facile 3-0 victory against Quetta.

The local outfit opened the scoring with a penalty corner conversion by Zubair Ahmad in the 15th minute.

Karachi could have doubled their ascendancy had Muhammad Ali not missed the sitter just four minutes into half.

Sarfaraz Ahmad, the player of the match, compensated the loss when he banged the backboard two minutes later. He had another chance few moments later but this time his reverse hit sailed over the bar.

Sarfaraz got his double in the 60th minute when he slotted home following a perfect pass from Majid Ghafoor.

Zubair and Mehdi Abbas of Quetta were sent of temporarily in the 29th minute, while Karachi's Muhammad Ali Jr was yellow-carded in the 35th minute. The game saw four more yellow cards when Karachi's Muhammad Ali, M. Fawad (63rd and 65th minutes) and Quetta's Fahad Khan and Aamir (37th and 62nd minute) were sent off for rough play.
