DHAKA Impressive Pakistan completed a squash double when they beat India 2-0 in a lop-sided final to capture the team gold in the 11th South Asian Games at Dhaka Club courts on Saturday evening.
Pakistan, who earlier won the individual gold and a silver when Aamir Atlas Khan beat his compatriot Farhan Mehboob in the final four days ago, faced little problem in disposing of the Indian team. Mansoor Zaman lost just six points while demolishing Ravi Dixit with forceful winners. Mansoor's cross court and deadly drop shots proved too much for Ravi to handle.
Ranked 19th in the world, Aamir Atlas faced some challenge from Gaurav Nandraj in the first game before completing a straight forward victory. “We easily accomplished our mission of winning two golds and one silver,” Pakistan Manager and squash great Qamar Zaman told newsmen here.
He complimented the boys for maintaining their domination in the squash event. “Now boys will have time to enjoy a few days in Dhaka,” he added.
Host Bangladesh beat Nepal 2-0 to take the bronze medal as the squash event came to close.
Results Mansoor Zaman bt Ravi Dixit 11-1, 11-2, 11-3; Aamir Atlas bt Gaurav Nandraj 11-8, 11-5, 11-3.
