Karachi Deposed Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry arrived here Tuesday noon on a 2-day visit of Karachi. This is his first visit to Karachi after the May 12th 2007 carnage, when he was not allowed to come out of Jinnah International Airport and forced to fly back to Islamabad.

He was accompanied by Supreme Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Atharmauallah and other lawyers.

A large number of lawyers, activists of PML-N, JI, Sunni Tehreek, Pasban, tehreek-e-Insaf and other rights organizations had gathered at the airport since this morning to receive the deposed CJP. The reception camps were also setup all along Shahrah-e-Faisal by these organizations.

The heavy contingents of police were deployed at airport area and the procession route, however, Salim Zia, provincial leader of PML-N while talking to the newsmen before arrival of CJP expressed dissatisfaction over security arrangements.

Lawyers leader Munir A. Malik also told newsmen that the government did not provide bulletproof car for the deposed CJP despite its promise.

The enthusiast political workers and lawyers continued rallying in the airport area beating the drums and chanting slogans of Go Musharraf Go.

Iftikhar Chaudhry is scheduled to go from the airport to the residence of deposed Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Subbihuddin Ahmad to attend a tea party.

During his stay, chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry would attend a reception hosted at Lawyers Club in Clifton and would address Sindh lawyers on July 30.

Lawyers leaders complained that their vehicles were not allowed inside to receive the deposed CJP.
