Musharraf attack case suspect held

RAWALPINDI, Oct 9 Law enforcement agencies have arrested a man for alleged involvement in the terrorist attack on former president Pervez Musharraf, Dawn has learnt.

Jamshaid Raza, alias Chacha, is believed to be one of the main accused who was involved in the failed attempt to assassinate Gen (retired) Musharraf on December 25, 2003 near Jhanda Chichi in Rawalpindi.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mohammad Aslam Khan Tareen confirmed the arrest, and said the suspect was a facilitator and he was captured from Faisalabad.

Jamshaid, who is in his 40s with a criminal history, has close links with Amjad Farooqi, according to a security officer privy to the investigation.—Staff Reporter
