Many Sukkur areas face water shortage

SUKKUR, July 12 Residents of New Pind, Islam Colony, Agha Badaruddin Colony, Bhoosa Lane and Microwave Colony of Sukkur are facing an acute shortage of drinking water for the last two days due to bursting of 12-inch pipeline.

The pipeline supplying water to these localities had ruptured near Agha Badaruddin Colony as a result of which water was gushing out of it and accumulating on the road.

The acting administrator of Taluka Municipal Administration, Sumair Ahmed Syed, deputed a team of experts to repair the damaged line.

The administrator has assured the people of the affected areas that repair work would be completed soon after which water supply would be resumed.

The water supply line, laid decades ago, had completed its operational life and needs to be replaced with fresh ones because it can not sustain pressure, experts said.
