Gujranwala CPO, SP summoned
LAHORE, July 11 Taking suo motu notice of the news of murder of a litigant and his driver in Gujranwala sessions court due to firing of his opponent on Saturday, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif summoned the city police officer and the SP concerned on July 13.
Ex-city district naib nazim Gohar Zaman and his driver Muhammad Ashraf were killed while Mehr Afzal, Bashir, Ilyas and Arshad Bhatti suffered injuries when Yaqoob opened fire on them in courtroom. The chief justice observed that such an incident in courts had invited attention of the public at large and it was a matter of concern. He would, therefore, like to know about the action taken in the matter and the measures adopted by the district administration.
FAISALABAD CASE The LHC chief justice took suo motu notice of murder of five persons in Faisalabad on their way to sessions court on Friday and summoned the respective city police officer and the SP on July 13.
Ashiq Bajwa Lumbardar, his son Saeed Bajwa, nephew Muhammad Khan, driver Naeem and witness Mehar Sadiq were coming to Faisalabad in a car to appear before the sessions court. They were ambushed by their rivals near Gatti Railway Station, who after resorting to indiscriminate firing, killed all of them on the spot. The Chak Jhumra police have registered a case against the accused but no arrest had been made so far.
Police said Mukhtar Bajwa group had killed Master Afzal of victims' group some time back and a case had been registered against them.
