Faisalabad to get 200MW plant from Abu Dhabi
FAISALABAD, July 15 The Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco) will receive a 200MW power plant as a gift from the Abu Dhabi government in August, says chief executive officer Ahmed Saeed Akhtar here on Wednesday.
He said the plant would be made functional within six months, and it would be installed at the gas turbine power station on Canal Road.
Fesco was also mulling installation of five rental power plants near Faisalabad following the government instructions, he said. The plants would start functioning gradually, he added.
Mr Akhtar said a 150 megawatts power plant being installed on Samundri Road grid station would start production by the end of the month. He said Fesco had purchased land to install two power plants of 200 megawatts each on Dijkot-Gojra Road and Sattiana Road where construction work had been started.
A rental power plant for M-3 industrial zone is also being installed, he said, adding the plant would also start functioning in June next year that would benefit the industry.
He said Fesco was spending Rs1.2 billion on improvement of its grid system.
DHC The Defence of Human Rights (DHC) staged a protest rally to raise their voices for the release of missing persons.
Participants carried banners and placards inscribed with slogan 'Release immediately our valuable citizens and loved ones'.
The rally led by DHC chairperson Amina Masood Janjua, was also joined by the family and neighbours of Saeed, who has been missing for the last few days.
The protesters chanted slogans against the government and demanded release of the unlawfully detained persons.
Ms Janjua said Saeed must be released immediately or its crime be made public. A march would be arranged if Saeed was not released immediately, she added.
