Clarification
ISLAMABAD, May 17 Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party (PMKP), while clarifying a news report published in Dawn on May 11 under the headline 'Workers party seeks security for people in conflict zones' has said “there is only one Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party, which is registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan, since registration of the political parties was made obligatory and compulsory way back in the 80s”.
In a joint statement, the PMKP leaders - senior central joint secretary S.M. Altaf, Punjab chapter president Riaz Khalil, NWFP chapter Tahir secretary Mohmand, Sindh chapter secretary Furqan Qaimkhani, said the PMKP had its own constitution and manifesto and its yearly audited accounts were submitted to ECP every year.
The PMKP has a long record of struggle against dictatorships. Its president, Fatehyab Ali Khan, was signatory to MRD, Pakistan Awami Ittehad and Grand Democratic Alliance.
“The party believes in Quaid's vision of Pakistan and strives for social justice. It is against Mullah, Maulana Fazlullah and Sufi Mohammad's interpretation of Islam.”
Dawn's report was based on a news conference by another faction calling itself Mazdoor Kissan Party, headed by Afzal Khamosh.
