Benazir UN panel to submit report this month

UNITED NATIONS, March 26 The United Nations Commission entrusted to look into the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto is expected to submit its findings to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon by March 31.

Martin Nesriky, the spokesman for the UN chief, told journalists on Friday that the commission would submit its report by the end of the month and that the chairman of the commission, Ambassador Heraldo Munoz of Chile, may brief the press later.

As regards reports that the commission may delay the report, the spokesman's office had said that there was no such request from the commission's chairman.

The three-member commission, which began its work on July 1, 2009, was mandated to submit its report identifying the facts and circumstances concerning Ms Bhutto's tragic death in December 2007 to the UN chief by the end of December 2009.
