Beaconite wallop Youngsters: Women basketball

ISLAMABAD, March 27 The Beaconite Club walloped Youngsters Club 38-11 in the opening match of the Women Basketball Championship played in the Hamidi Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex here on Friday.

After a closely fought first quarter, at the end of which Youngsters Club were behind three points (10-7), Beaconite Club took control of the proceedings.

They won most of the exchanges in the second quarter to outscore Youngsters 14-7. As the teams went into the break, Beaconite was leading 27-09.

Beaconite's Anika and Fakhara contributed 10 points each. From Youngsters main scorers were Rahila (5) and Seemab (3).

The ball handler and pivot of Beaconite Club were coordinating very promptly and lifted the match.

Najiba Ashraf Khan inaugurated the basketball championship organised by Chaudhry Javed Ashraf in collaboration with the Pakistan Sports Board. Seven teams from Islamabad are competing in the three-day event.The participating teams are Margalla, Beaconite, Bahria, Youngsters, Strikers, and Islamic University.

The teams were divided in two pools.
