QUETTA, Sept 24 Seventy kidnapping gangs are operating in Quetta and efforts are being made to free people held hostage by them, police say.

Addressing a press conference on Friday night, DIG (operations) Hamid Shakeel said that some of the gangsters had been arrested and efforts were under way to bring others to book.

He said police had detected cellphone numbers of a big gang.

He said that six men and five women were in the captivity of kidnappers and police were making efforts to ensure their safe return.

The DIG said police raided a house in Killi Chiltan area of Sariab road on Friday and found there a flood-affected person belonging to Sindh. Wadera Dur Mohammad was kidnapped on Aug 11, the official added.
