45 worship places in Kohat declared sensitive
KOHAT, Sept 16 Authorities have declared 45 worship places -- seven imambargahs and 38 mosques -- where Eid prayers will be offered as most sensitive, in the Kohat region.
The security plan, unveiled by regional police chief Abdullah Khan on Wednesday, includes installation of security metal detector walkthrough gates at the sensitive mosques and imambargahs in Kohat, Karak and Hangu districts.
FC personnel, commandoes and bomb disposal squads will also be deployed at the religious places during Eid prayers to avoid any untoward incident.
Members of local peace committees will also be provided with metal detectors to check suspicious people at the entrance of Eidgahs.
All control rooms have been connected with a free call service at Rescue 15 for quick response in case of any terrorist act.
Meanwhile, security forces blew up two hideouts of militants and arrested several suspected militants during search operations in Darra Adamkhel and Hangu on Wednesday.
Officials said the security forces entered the Zor Kalay area of Darra Adamkhel and blew up the houses of Taif Afridi and Aziz Khan Afridi, which were being used by militants.
The forces also continued operation for the second day in Marosi Banda of the Hangu district and arrested several suspected militants.
The two militants arrested in Chappri Naryab area last night were shifted to Kohat amid tight security for interrogation by the special investigation cell.
The police bomb disposal squad, meanwhile, defused a 10kg home-made bomb planted by militants in front of a shop in the Hangu bazaar on Wednesday.
In another incident, the Tariq Afridi group of Darra Adamkhel Taliban blew up the house of the rival group's local commander on Wednesday.
Official sources said militants belonging to the Tariq Afridi group destroyed the house of rival Momin Khan Afridi group's commander Aziz in the Mullah Khel area.
KIDNAPPED Some armed men kidnapped a student of the Kohat University of Science and Technology from zero point on the Indus Highway on Wednesday.
Waseem Abbas of the Ustarzai town, Kohat, was having a walk with two friends when the armed men took him away in a car. The car was later found abandoned on the Shakardarra road.
