Attempts to sabotage Murree Accord to fail

RAWALPINDI, April 14 Lawyers will not accept anything less than full implementation of Murree Accord and will foil attempts to derail the ongoing struggle for restoration of deposed judges and rule of law in the country.

This was stated by former vice-chairman Pakistan Bar Council Ali Ahmed Kurd while addressing Rawalpindi Bar Association on Monday. He said the lawyers had started countdown since March 31 for the reinstatement of all deposed judges and hoped that the ruling coalition would honour its pledge to restore the pre-November 3 judiciary.

He said lawyers would not back out of their just demand. He said those who had been supporting the dictator and were opposed to the lawyers' movement were hell-bent on sabotaging the struggle to reinstate the deposed judges.

Mr Kurd said throughout their movement lawyers had maintained peace and those who attacked former minister Sher Afgan Niazi were not lawyers. He said Mr Afgan was saved by Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan, adding Mr Niazi had changed his statement thrice since he was attacked.
