Protest in Multan against RD

MULTAN, May 19 The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) continued its protest against the regulatory duty on yarn export.

The Aptma members brought out a rally from Tariq Road and marched up to Multan Press Club. The protesters staged a demonstration outside the press club and chanted slogans against the government.

They also burnt tyres and blocked the road. The rally was led by Aptma's coordinator Khawaja Anees and Mian Amir Naseem.

The spinning industry in the country, including 350 mills in southern Punjab region are on a two-day strike against imposition of regulatory duty on yarn export.

Talking to the media the protesters warned that the Aptma would further intensify its protest against the duty and the strike would be extended to an indefinite period. They feared that the government decision would deprive thousands of families of their bread and butter.
