Afghans, Tajiks held at Sindh, Punjab border

SUKKUR Kashmore police on Friday arrested 16 Afghan and Tajik nationals during a routine check from a Karachi-bound passenger coach at Dera More.

Police stopped a coach coming from Peshawar enroute to Karachi at the Dera More check post and arrested 16 Afghan and Tajik nationals found travelling without relevant documents.

The arrested Tajik nationals were Bashir Ahmed, Moula Din, Imam Din s/o Mehmood, Imam Din s/o Gulbadin and Abdul Manan and Afghans included Sahib Gul, Lutufullah, Zaibullah, Islamuddin, Ateeq Ahmed, Asif, Muneer Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, Juma Din and Fazalur-Rehman.

Guddu police said that all the arrested were going to Karachi from Peshawar and did not possess any documents, except some Afghans in possession of registration card, issued by the government of Pakistan.

Further investigation was under way.

Illegal detention

Nine illegal detainees were recovered from the Kashmore police station on Friday. All were reportedly arrested from Channa Muhalla two days back.

Irshad Ahmed Channa filed an application in the district and sessions court, Kashmore stating that the SHO Kashmore police station along with a party raided houses in Channa Muhalla two days ago and arrested nine including Ali Hassan, Sultan Ahmed, Allah Dino, Khair Mohammad, Mohammad Ameen, Mohammad Akhtar, Iqbal Ahmed and two others. The detainees, he further stated, were kept in the police station illegally and without the registration of a case.

The district and sessions judge, Kashmore, Naimatullah Phulpoto ordered the Raid Commissioner, Ilam Din Alvi to search police station and recover all detainees.

Ilam Din Alvi conducted a raided on the police station and recovered all nine men of Channa community.

The Commissioner ordered the SHO to appear before the court on Saturday along with the record.
