MINGORA: Swat lawyers ask president to sign Sharia draft

MINGORA, March 26 The legal fraternity in Swat held a protest rally demanding of the president of the country to sign on the draft of Nizam-i-Adl regulation within three days otherwise they would start a long march and stage sit-in in Islamabad.

The lawyers on the call of the Swat Bar Association held a rally from the district courts to Nishat Chowk in favour of implementation of the Sharia regulation in the region. The protest rally was led by the bar president, Aftab Alam, and general-secretary, Sabir Shah.

Addressing the rally, they said the Islamic law system was the longstanding demand of the people of Swat who had sacrificed a lot for this noble cause. The lawyers marched towards the press club in Mingora and held protest demonstration there.

SCHOOL VACATED The security force vacated another government-run girls school at Haji Baba, Mingora on Thursday.

The security forces had vacated the Nengolai high school on Tuesday after the people of the area blocked the Mingora-Matta road for three hours in protest against the stationing of the troops on the schools premises.
