MARDAN: Man killed over family feud in Mardan

MARDAN, Jan 3 A man was killed in Khan Khotey area on the jurisdiction of Hoti police station over a family feud on Saturday.

It was learnt that a resident of Banusakhel Hoti identified as Ikram Khan son of Miandad Khan was shot dead by his rivals. Zeeshan, son of the deceased, named Johar Khan, Mir Zaman and Jamal Khan in the FIR however all the accused managed to escape after the incident.

BY-POLLS Former district president of Pakistan People's Party Abdul Akbar Khan Khalil has said that his party candidate will win the by-election on provincial assembly constituency, PF-30.

The seat fell vacant after the death of MPA Iftikhar Khan Shagai.

He was killed in a road accident at Rojhan district on December 26, when he was on his way to Naudhero to participate in Benazir Bhutto's first death anniversary.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Khalil said that he would apply for ticket to contest by-election on the vacant seat.

However, he said, the decision would be taken by the parliamentary board of the party.

Meanwhile, provincial chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) has decided to award ticket to Tajul Amin Jabbal.

The party has called upon its activists to start work for the upcoming by-election. Jabbal was elected as MPA from the same constituency in 2002 general elections on Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal ticket but lost to PPP candidate Shagai in 2008 general polls.

The party will field Bakhshali union council nazim, Qazi Bashir, as covering candidate.
