Ikram Rabbani creates rift in Okara PPP

OKARA, April 24: With the rejoining of Rana Ikram Rabbani, the Okara PPP organization has split into two groups.

Workers and office-bearers close to MPA Ashraf Khan Sohna are opposed to taking back Mr Rabbani in the PPP fold. The dissidents include city PPP senior vice-president Shakoor Minhas, district PPP vice-president Alam Sher Lodhi and senior worker Malik Riasat Ali.

The other group include Okara tehsil PPP president Abdul Sattar Wahla, Deepalpur tehsil president Advocate Sibtain Khan Bhatti, Maj Ijaz Shahid Mohal (retired), city additional general secretary Rao Rafiq, Shahzad Naul, Advocate Jehangir Khan Mehar, Shaikh Tasawar Husain, PYF president Izharul Haq Toor, district PSF president Shahid Salim Noonari and general secretary Malik Kamran.

They visited the Okara Press Club on Thursday and told newsmen that they welcomed the decision of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto, Punjab president Qasim Zia and general secretary Jehangir Badr to take Mr Rabbani in the PPP fold back.
