Under-19 Women`s Cricket: Komal dazzles as Lahore crush Quetta
KARACHI, Jan 27 Young Komal Feroze's bat produced fireworks at the South End Club here on Wednesday when the Lahore team opener registered the first century in any domestic U-19 cricket event for women in Pakistan.
Winning the toss, Lahore elected to bat first and put on 259 runs on the board while losing no wickets in the process.
Komal scored 120 runs off 90 balls with the help of 15 fours as skipper Bismah Maroof played a responsible innings holding down one end for her partner to do the scoring at the other. Bismah herself made 85 runs off 65 balls. Their opponents Quetta, too, were overly generous in giving away 54 extras.
Later, Lahore dismissed Quetta for 38 runs in 12.3 overs with medium pacer Farah Naeem picking up four wickets while giving away just six runs in the three overs that she bowled.
Komal Feroze was named Woman of the Match.
Earlier, in the day's first match Hyderabad beat Rawalpindi by eight wickets. Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first but were all out for 71 runs in 17.2 overs and a little over 75 minutes. The highest score was 19 made by Anzil Ali followed by the 18 extras dole given away by Rawalpindi.
Medium pacer Fariha Khan picked up three wickets while another medium pacer Amna Usman and slow left arm Omera Bashir got two each.
Rawalpindi reached the target in 18.3 overs and for the loss of two wickets.
